DO IT BETTER: The purpose of the do it better project was to improve upon a previous project in the past. We are going to look at what we did wrong and how we could fix that error(s) to perfect our design.
For my groups do it better project we decided to remake our energy efficient car. We knew we had a lot to improve upon from the last one. Some issue with our last car was that it was made out of flexible and non durable cardboard. Now this cardboard may have worked if it was thick. But it was made from a cereal box so it did not last. The cars main issue is that being rubber band powered the rubber band had to pull on something, and that was the cars side itself. This caused the flimsy cardboard to crease back , and over time break down. To solve this we made a wooden frame. now it does not flex at all. Another flimsy part we had to combat was our axles, which were skinny skewers made of wood. We replaced these with 3/4 inch pvc pipe we are very very sturdy. With our new design we had more weight so we added 3x the rubber bands to help get the large car moving. The car is able to carry over 5000 grams!

Reflection: I think that this project was a very good project to have in this stem class. It gives us a chance to go back and finish our unfinished or imprefected work. We had a very good pre-plan design. That was one of our ups, our other up was when we figured out how to make sturdy wheels big enough for our car with some help from Mr. Williams. Like all projects (even do it better projects) we had downs. One of our downs was getting the car to travel far, the way the rubber bands wound kept it from going very far at all. Another down was when we had wheels sliding from side to side through our axle holders. (which we eventually fixed) If i could go back and change one thing about this project it would be to still use cardboard but make it thicker so we could travel long distances.
